FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Many questions are asked by visitors and newcomers to our church, friends, coworkers, or neighbors.  Here is a list of questions and answers to help you learn more about Jordan Crossing Church. If you have specific questions that haven't been answered on this page, please feel free to contact us

How Many People Attend Jordan Crossing?

Jordan Crossing Church is small, but mighty. As a new and growing church, we average between 40 and 50 people in attendance each Saturday.

Do I Have to Belong to Your Denomination to Attend?

No! People from all walks of life and all denominations are sincerely welcomed at Jordan Crossing Church. We believe that God knows a person by their heart, not their denomination.

Why Do You Have Church on Saturday?

Jordan Crossing Church accepts the Bible as our guide for what to believe and how to live. The Bible, from Genesis through Revelation, describes the seventh day (Sabbath) as the one God set aside. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" - Exodus 20. The Sabbath is a whole day to deepen our friendship with the Creator of the universe.

Who Are Seventh-day Adventists?

Seventh-day Adventists are a rapidly growing worldwide fellowship of approximately 18 million.  In fact, the Adventist church has a presence in more countries around the world than any other church on the planet. We love Jesus Christ and strive to make Him the center of all we believe and do. The church is eager to share the truth about what God is really like – as seen in the life of Jesus. We are comprised of Christians who accept the Bible as our authority for what to believe and how to live. We are a Christian fellowship that worship on the biblical Sabbath and look forward to the soon return of Jesus. Also, we are deeply interested in health – health of mind, body, and spirit. To learn more, please visit our what we believe page.

Do You Have to Dress up to Attend Worship Services?

No! We have members who attend Jordan Crossing in t-shirts and jeans as well as those who wear business casual clothing. Feel free to wear whatever you're comfortable in! We care about the person in the clothes.

What is Communion?

We celebrate communion to "proclaim the death of Jesus until He comes." 1 Corinthians 11:26 During communion we are able to actively celebrate Jesus's victory in the battle over sin. We participate in the Lord's Supper, which includes three Biblical symbols:

  • Foot washing—which symbolizes our commitment to love and serve others as Jesus did

  • Eating bread—"This bread is my flesh," said Jesus, "which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:51

  • Drinking grape juice—"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life." John 6:54

These three acts are done in remembrance of Jesus's fulfilled mission on Earth with his sacrifice on the cross. Communion is also a time to refresh and renew your relationship with Jesus. We'd love for you to join us for a communion service. Check our calendar of events to see when the next one will take place.

What is Baptism?

Baptism is a Biblical symbol of dying to self and coming alive in Jesus. It shows that we want to be transformed into a new person through God's love and grace. Jesus himself showed us the importance of being baptized in his own baptism here on Earth, as told in Matthew 3

At Jordan Crossing Church, we baptize by fully dipping in water because it symbolizes burying our old self and emerging as a different person, fully filled with God's grace. Through baptism, we are born again, with a new life in Jesus.
